Bring On The Rain: The Trials and Tribulations of a Country Preacher

WE'VE ALL ASKED THE QUESTION, "Why do bad things happen to good people?" There are answers to that question, whether it be religious or philosophical. For those who trust in God, however, and who believe that God holds the future in His hands, this question seems to be out of place. If God knows what the future holds, then He is very much aware of the trouble we enounter. When asking the question about bad things and good people, we are actually questioning God's reason--and perhaps authority--behind those problems.

A much better question would be, "What is the purpose behind adversity?" Understanding that God allows certain situations to happen to us points us toward a realization that perhaps there is a reason for those bad things which befall us. And there is.

Just as there are physical laws which govern our universe, so also are there spiritual laws--which, like those of physics, cannot be broken. One of those spiritual laws states that God refines His people through adversity. That refinement--the method of removing impurities--comes through no other source. As the prophet of old declared, when God is finished with our refinement, we will emerge shining as pure gold.

Bring On The Rain is a powerful collection of ten sermons by author/evangelist Charles Wise, all of which pertain to the struggles we are called upon to endure. He shares the stories behind the sermons, and the personal struggles that helped shape and write each chapter. From his life on the streets to his conversion, from failing health to a failing marriage and on to life as a single parent, Charles is living proof that disaster and heartache can happen to anyone. Yet through the pain he points to one essential fact: that God is always in control. Adversity either makes or breaks the person who goes through it, and today Charles shares how these struggles has deepened his faith in Christ.

This is a must read book for every Christian. Chapters include: Bring on the Rain (the reason for adversity); The Promise of Peace; Making Decisions God's Way; The Unknown God (showcasing the need of our relationship with Him); The Last Stand (a call to commitment); The Cost of Christianity; On The Way (finding out who God is in the darkness of life); The Unforgiveable Sin (the truth behind this powerful verse); The Power of the Resurrection; and Will the Word End Here (will you trust God to do what is best?).

Combining eighteen years of intensive Bible study and fifteen years of ministerial experience, Charles provides insight into the difficulties of the Christian faith. Here are the answers to life's deepest questions.
